Rising P-pop group One South marked a major milestone as they officially entered the Manila music scene, holding “Hiyaw Mula sa Timog: The Exclusive Media Showcase of One South” on September 8, 2026, at the Academy of Rock Quezon City. The event introduced the five-member group—hailing from different municipalities in South Cotabato—to media, industry partners, and fans, and signaled their new chapter under Vibrant Voice Production & Talent Management Inc.
With their move from Mindanao to Manila, One South aims to share their stories, music, and dreams with a broader audience while challenging stereotypes about artists from the South. “Hindi lang po kami basta taga Mindanao, meron din po kaming mga talento,” they said, expressing their pride in their roots and their desire to explore new opportunities.
The group, composed of leader and composer Jeson “Jace” Retirado Ramos, lead dancer Adrian “Drey” Sorongon Sol, visual Jhevin “Jhev” Paloma Malan, main vocalist Marvincy “Arvy” Salazar Abayon, and main rapper Rover “Rover” Kylle Plastico Casas, blends pop with tribal influences. Their original songs “Galak” and “Hiyaw” showcase this fusion, incorporating traditional sounds like the kulintang and tribal chants, which they performed live at the showcase alongside covers of TJ Monterde’s “Tulad Mo” and SB19’s “Mapa.”
Sharing their journey, One South discussed the sacrifices of leaving Mindanao. “Sobrang hirap po siya pero nandito kami para ipagpatuloy yung pangarap na meron kami. Nag-iyakan kami bago kami pumunta rito,” they revealed. For them, the group is a family—“a space where we grow, support each other, and chase our dreams together.”
The group’s biggest influence is SB19, whom they see as “parents” in the P-pop scene. “Nabuo po ang One South dahil sa SB19,” they said, proudly calling themselves A’TIN (SB19’s fandom) before debuting. They have named their own fanbase Tinig (“voice”) and hope to someday collaborate with their idols and perform on the country’s biggest stages.
Under Vibrant Voice Production & Talent Management Inc., One South has found both professional support and a second family. “Binibigyan kami ng groceries at tirahan. Hindi lang artists ang turing nila sa amin; napi-feel namin na may isa pa kaming pamilya dito sa Manila,” they shared, grateful for the hands-on management and care.
One South’s recent singles “Galak” and “Hiyaw” have resonated with fans and critics, ranking on the Billboard Philippines Top 10 Most-Voted P-Pop Releases of 2026. Their unique blend of acoustic warmth and cultural elements sets them apart in the crowded P-pop landscape.
The group’s journey is gaining momentum. Last year, they received the Cultural Excellence award at the 10th PPOP Music Awards, and they are set to perform at the 11th PPOP Music Awards at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in October.
With their roots in Mindanao and their sights set on national and international stages, One South is determined to use their music to share messages of family, sacrifice, perseverance, and hope—proving that talent from the South has a powerful voice in the P-pop scene.
