Shanti Dope renews partnership with Universal Records Philippines, marking new era in hip-hop journey

Filipino rap phenom Shanti Dope has renewed his contract with Universal Records Philippines, extending a partnership that started when he was just 16 years old and at the beginning of his now-influential music career. The contract renewal underscores a bond built on mutual trust and belief in the artist’s talent.

Shanti Dope, who first signed with Universal Records at 16, quickly gained recognition with the release of his debut EP “Materyal.” The project included the breakout hit “Nadarang,” which climbed Spotify Philippines’ Top 50 Viral Chart and paved the way for Shanti’s emergence as a new voice in Filipino hip-hop.

Now, nine years after that breakthrough, Shanti has become a defining figure in the local music scene, known for tracks like “Nadarang” and “Amatz,” both of which have become anthems for a new generation of rap fans. His sound continues to evolve, blending sharp lyricism with a distinct style that sets him apart.

The decision to stay with Universal Records was an easy one for the artist. “Nag-decide ako to still renew sa UR [Universal Records] since sila naman ang unang naniwala sa akin mula noong 16 years old ako,” Shanti shared, acknowledging the label’s early belief in his potential.

Universal Records Philippines Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go welcomed the renewal, highlighting the growth she’s seen in Shanti over the years. “We’ve seen Shanti grow from a young artist with a powerful voice into one of the most distinct voices in Filipino hip-hop. Renewing our partnership is our way of saying that we believe in Shanti—not just for what he has achieved, but for everything he has yet to create.”

Shanti’s management team, Asintada Management and Production Inc., also expressed its full support. “As his management, we respect the artist’s decision and are happy to support him in this renewal,” they stated.

The renewed partnership comes at a pivotal time for Shanti, who has a new release planned with Universal Records and several projects in development. The label and management are optimistic about the rapper’s future as he continues to develop his sound and explore new creative directions.

Fans can look forward to more new music, collaborations, and surprises as Shanti Dope enters this exciting new chapter. The artist remains committed to bringing fresh energy to Filipino hip-hop while honoring the journey that began nearly a decade ago.
