Alpha 8 Corporation, a distributor based in the Philippines known for its salon products and hair care treatments, served as the principal sponsor of Hair Asia 2026. The event took place on May 26, 2026, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Hair Asia 2026 included a one-day sale, live hair shows, and competitions, with Alpha 8 Corporation presenting its latest salon innovations at its booth.
During the program, Alpha 8 Corporation’s President and CEO, James Paul A. Santiago, was joined by representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They discussed the role of regulatory compliance in ensuring the safety of both salon professionals and their clients.
Franchesca Dolleton, Food Drug Regulator II, clarified the distinction between FDA approval and notification. She explained that before any hair product is released in the market, the Market Authorization Holder must secure a Certificate of Product Notification (CPN), as outlined in FDA Circular No. 2013.
DTI Trade-Industry Development Head Bonn Jovi Estrella emphasized that businesses should be DTI registered to ensure legal operation and customer safety. He also clarified that while DTI registration is necessary for a business to operate and obtain a mayor’s permit, it does not guarantee product safety. Products themselves must be FDA-notified or approved.
Alpha 8 Corporation encourages consumers to check the safety of salon products by:
- Asking their stylist what product will be used before any treatment
- Looking for FDA approval or registration on product packaging
- Being cautious of strong odors or discomfort during application
As part of its advocacy, Alpha 8 Corporation highlights that all of its distributed products comply with regulations and are FDA-approved, ensuring they meet established safety standards for professional use. The company maintains strict quality control and works only with formulations that prioritize both performance and client well-being.
