Produced by A24 in collaboration with Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps, BACKROOMS is the feature directorial debut of Kane Parsons. Parsons, recognized for his popular YouTube web series inspired by the Backrooms internet legend, brings his vision to the big screen at the age of 20. His web series has attracted nearly 100 million views, contributing to the story’s presence across various media, including video games on platforms like Steam and Roblox.
The film features a cast led by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, along with Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, Avan Jogia, Chelah Horsdal, and Toby Hargrave. The teaser highlights a mysterious doorway within a furniture showroom basement, hinting at the film’s exploration of unpredictable environments and shifting realities. The first poster released adopts the familiar visual motif of yellowed wallpaper, consistent with the original web series and its online adaptations.
