Homegrown snack brand Captain Calamares has officially announced Alex Gonzaga as its newest brand ambassador, solidifying the partnership with a contract signing event at Tio Pepe Filipino Restaurant in Alabang. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the rapidly growing food franchise, known for its fun, authentic, and proudly Filipino approach to snacks.
The event highlighted the brand’s commitment to finding a partner who embodies its core values. “We really took time to find someone who truly fits the brand, someone who is fun, professional, and authentic. Alex represents all of that,” said Captain Calamares CEO John Carlo Prado.
Alex Gonzaga, celebrated for her relatable personality and strong digital influence, expressed her excitement about joining the Captain Calamares family. “Sobrang happy and excited ako,” she shared. “May 52 stores na sila ngayon, and for sure marami pang mabubuksan through franchising. For Filipinos, pagdating sa appetizer at pica-pica, calamares talaga ‘yan. Kaya sobrang swak.” Gonzaga also emphasized the importance of authenticity, noting that she tries products herself before endorsing them.
Founded just two years ago, Captain Calamares has quickly expanded to 52 stores nationwide, with recent openings in SM Bacolod and plans for further expansion in Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo. CEO Prado recounted the brand’s humble beginnings, sharing how he personally sold products daily to grow the business: “From 4 PM to 10 PM, nagtitinda talaga ako. Uuwi ng gabi, tulog ng ilang oras, then back to work. That story keeps us grounded and hungry to innovate.”
The partnership aims to launch engaging campaigns that celebrate Filipino taste, entrepreneurship, and everyday fun. The event also featured the debut of the brand’s new jingle, reinforcing its youthful and memorable identity. Attendees included select media and Alex’s mother and talent manager, Mommy Pinty, highlighting the family-oriented spirit behind the collaboration.
