SunKissed Lola returns with new single ‘Edi Magalit Ka,’ blending warmth, honesty, and everyday love
After more than a year since their last EP, Filipino band SunKissed Lola makes a comeback with their latest single, “Edi Magalit Ka,” released on major streaming platforms. The song, which builds on the heartfelt style behind previous hits like “Pasilyo,” “Paki Sabi,” and “Makalimutan Ka,” marks a fresh yet familiar chapter for the group.
Known for their honest storytelling about love and relationships, SunKissed Lola’s new track turns a familiar Filipino phrase into an affectionate anthem about patience, love, and choosing the relationship over pride. The band hopes the song resonates with anyone who’s ever navigated the ups and downs of partnership.
“It’s a song about relationships,” vocalist Laura Lacbain shares. “Hindi maiiwasan ang away sa relationship, pero hindi pa rin mawawala ang love. Susuyuin pa rin sa huli.” Vocalist and guitarist Alvin “Bino” Serito describes the track as a “loving anthem,” emphasizing that even in conflict, the bond between partners remains strong.
The song’s origins date back to 2021, but its tone has evolved. Initially more prideful, the lyrics became softer and more emotionally open as the band developed the track. “No one has to win,” Bino explains. “I will always choose the relationship over the argument.”
Vocalist and guitarist Dan Ombao credits Bino for shaping the confessional parts of the song, adding the line “’Di ba?” to give the message a gentler feel. Laura notes that the title itself—“Edi Magalit Ka”—sparks curiosity and encourages listeners to understand its context within the song.
Musically, the track started as an acoustic piece before growing into a laid-back, collaborative arrangement. Bassist Danj Quimson shares, “We all united to make it sound laid-back, simple, and we wanted to highlight the lyrics of the song.” The band’s goal was to keep things warm and easy on the ears.
Compared to earlier works with more unpredictable arrangements, “Edi Magalit Ka” is intentionally lighter and more straightforward. “For this one, we made it simple for the audience,” Bino says. “We made it magaan sa tainga.” Dan adds, “That’s also what the song asks for. A very simple, refreshing, and warm song.”
Drummer Genson Viloria finds the song’s charm in its familiarity. “When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like a cover because of how catchy and natural it was,” he shares.

The band sees the track as a more vulnerable and honest release. Laura views it as a fresh direction, highlighting the importance of working through relationship struggles. “It’s the comeback of SunKissed Lola,” she says.
Now approaching their fifth year, the band feels more focused and intentional. “We know our strengths and now we are able to maximize it,” Bino says. Danj notes a new focus on serving the song and connecting more deeply with listeners.
SunKissed Lola hopes “Edi Magalit Ka” makes fans smile, feel “kilig,” and reflect on how they handle everyday conflicts with loved ones. Laura adds, “Sana our young listeners na bago pa lang sa relationship, ma-realize nila na they need to work it out.” With this new release, the band is set to share more music and deeper stories in the coming months.
