The cast of I’mPerfect made a memorable appearance on the red carpet at the 9th EDDYS (Entertainment Editors’ Choice) held in Manila, proudly representing a film that continues to touch hearts and inspire audiences.
While the film did not win any trophies this year, it was nominated in several major categories, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Visual Effects.
I’mPerfect, produced by Nathan Studios which is headed by veteran actress-turned-producer Sylvia Sanchez, has gained widespread recognition for its groundbreaking representation of persons with Down syndrome in Philippine cinema.
The film, which previously made history at the MMFF 2025 with multiple awards, has now reached another milestone: it is the first Filipino film starring persons with Down syndrome to be officially invited to the 2026 Lucania Film Festival in Pisticci, Italy.
“IMPERFECT began with a simple dream,” Sanchez shared on social media. “We made it to give persons with Down syndrome the chance they have always deserved—to be seen, to be heard, and to show the world what they can truly do… Seeing Krystel Go come this far is already a beautiful victory for all of us. IMPERFECT did more than tell a story. It opened doors, broke barriers, and gave hope not just to our cast, but to the entire Down syndrome community.”
The film’s nomination at the EDDYS for Best Actress (Anne Krystel Daphne Go) and other top categories highlights its impact on audiences and critics alike. The movie, directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, also stars Earl Jonathan Amaba, Tonton Gutierrez, Joey Marquez, Zaijian Jaranilla, Lorna Tolentino, Janice de Belen, and Sylvia Sanchez.
Adding to its achievements, I’mPerfect will soon be available on Netflix, making its inspiring story accessible to a global audience. As Sanchez notes, “This is only the beginning. The best is yet to come.”
