The Kalayaan Dubai Cup 2026 officially began its preparations with a kickoff meeting held on Monday, June 8, at 8:00 PM. The meeting took place at RT Restobar, a well-known Filipino-owned bar in Dubai. The event was organized by T3T Sport Management in partnership with Phil Pro Consultancies, and brought together all participating teams, coaches, team owners, captains, and official representatives. The session aimed to lay out the guidelines and expectations for what is set to be one of the largest Filipino basketball tournaments in the UAE.
The meeting was led by Mr. J, T3T Community Owner and Technical Director, alongside Referee Rommel Dela Cruz. Both leaders reiterated the league’s focus on professionalism, fairness, and sportsmanship. Mr. J stated, “T3T Sport Management X Phil Pro Consultancies will always ensure that every game is fair and square. This league is more than just basketball—it is about unity, camaraderie, and bringing the Filipino community together through sports.”
Over the years, the Kalayaan Dubai Cup has evolved into an effort that brings together Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Filipino communities from across the UAE. The tournament is structured to promote not only competition but also a sense of unity and pride among participants and supporters. Teams from various regions of the UAE will compete, and guest teams are also expected to join, creating a diverse and engaging lineup.
The organizers announced the confirmed physical attendance and support of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, led by Consul General Ambrocio Brian Enciso III. This support highlights the event’s role in fostering community and strengthening connections among Filipinos in the UAE.
Before concluding the meeting, organizers shared their plans for a “Revenge League” tournament, scheduled to take place three days after Philippine Independence Day, providing another opportunity for the community to gather and participate in sports.
The Kalayaan Dubai Cup 2026 is now officially underway, offering a platform for high-level basketball, friendly competition, and a continuing celebration of Filipino unity in the UAE.
