We recently sat down with Luvizminda “Neng” Bihag, the co-owner of Ciudad Villa, to learn more about the inspiration, challenges, and unique experiences that make this resort truly one-of-a-kind.
A Family Haven Turned Private Getaway
Ciudad Villa was not originally built with business in mind. “The villa was constructed for our children,” Neng shares. “We never planned to open it to the public. The ground floor was for my third child and their family, the second floor for another child, with a library included, and the topmost floor was my husband’s law office. We wanted our children to have a place to stay when they visit, as their rooms in our home had been converted into other spaces.”
As time went by and the children moved out to start their own lives, the well-maintained villa saw less frequent use. “My third child suggested we open it up, especially since maintaining the pool and property was costly. Airbnb was getting popular back then, so we gave it a try.” The response was overwhelming. “Guests loved the place, and positive reviews kept coming in. We continued until the pandemic, and now it has been almost 10 years since we first opened to the public.”
The Distinct Ciudad Villa Experience
What sets Ciudad Villa apart from other resorts in the area is its authentic, home-like atmosphere. “This was never designed to be a business. We kept everything as it was, so guests feel like they're in their own backyard—peaceful, spacious, and surrounded by greenery,” Neng explains. “Many are surprised by how private and tranquil it feels.”
The villa’s design is also a reflection of the owners’ personal touch. “My husband and I designed everything for our children and grandchildren to enjoy,” Neng says. “And as members of Couples for Christ, we sometimes open the villa for our community’s events, always ‘gratis et amore’—freely and for love.”
Amenities That Feel Like Home
Ciudad Villa boasts a range of amenities ideal for intimate gatherings. Guests enjoy access to both adult and kiddie pools, a gazebo for events, and a mini game room with videoke that won’t disturb others. The property can accommodate both small family outings and larger events like weddings, with flexible space for up to 100 guests.
“Our staff are very approachable. We have a buzzer system—guests can reach us anytime, even at night,” Neng notes. “For parking, we collaborate with the barangay to provide more space when needed.”
Guests have exclusive use of over 500 sqm of space, including outdoor kitchens, patios, bedrooms, and areas perfect for relaxation or a BBQ party. The villa offers two air-conditioned bedrooms for 12–16 people, with options to upgrade for larger groups. Recreational packages include free karaoke, billiards, darts, chess, and more. For security, CCTVs monitor the common areas.
Seasonal Bookings and Challenges
Peak season for Ciudad Villa is from March to May, with another surge during December and long weekends. “Bookings drop during the rainy season and when families prepare for school fees,” Neng shares.
Like many businesses, the pandemic posed significant challenges. “We had to close, despite many inquiries. We couldn’t risk anyone’s health,” she recounts. “Another challenge is the rise of copycat mini-resorts nearby. But our exclusivity and the personal touch keep guests coming back.”
Looking Ahead and Cherishing Every Moment
Looking to the future, Neng hopes to expand the villa and add new areas, “if God permits.” But for her, the real reward is in the heartfelt testimonials. “Reading reviews praising our ambiance, cleanliness, and staff—it’s heartwarming,” she says.
Guests have come from as far as Batangas and Cavite, drawn by glowing reviews and social media posts. “They get curious and want to experience Ciudad Villa for themselves.”
